The problem of calculating the size of memory buffer in the NGN networks during the speech transmission, based on the Poisson distribution, as well as self-similar traffic transmitted by IP packets, is considered. To find the size of memory buffer in these networks, approaches are proposed based on the classical single-channel queuing systems of the M/M/1 and M/D/1 types with the corresponding exponential and deterministic distributions of the service times.
