The article investigates the technology of applying nanocomposite coatings to protect the surfaces of gate valves in the wellhead equipment from the rapid degradation under highly abrasive and corrosive operating conditions. The study examines the role of these coatings in extending the service life of the valve gates. Due to the insufficient durability of metal and epoxy layers produced by traditional gas-thermal spraying and plasma coating methods, the development of more efficient and modern technological solutions in this field is essential. During the research, the power of laser pulses, focusing parameters, energy density, and the mechanisms governing the coating formation process were analyzed using theoretical models, and the optimal operating regimes for various steel grades were identified. Nanostructured ceramic-metal coatings produced by laser technology significantly enhance the resistance of gate valve surfaces to wear and corrosion, extending their operational lifetime by several times. The results demonstrate that the proposed technology makes a substantial contribution to increasing both the technical reliability of the equipment and the economic efficiency of oil and gas industry installations.
