Abstract

The article presents the results of geological and lithological studies of the Upper Jurassic Chiraggala reef structure located in the South-Eastern Caucasus. The aim of the study is to deter-mine the morphological features, lithological composition and formation conditions of the Chirag-gala reef massif. The research is based on field geological observations, lithological analysis of reef carbonates and geochemical data, including Ca/Mg ratios, used for paleotemperature recon-struction. The results indicate that the Chiraggala reef represents a scleractinian bioherm formed under shallow, warm-water marine conditions during the Oxfordian stage. The predominance of calcitic carbonate composition reflects diagenetic processes affecting the reef deposits. The ob-tained data contribute to the understanding of Upper Jurassic reef development and their geological significance.
